Agricultural Development and Job Creation - Phase II

Project Objective:

The current initiative aims to train 2500 beneficiaries (30% of them female) in the fields of banana waste recycling, hydroponics through farmers' field schools, integrated fish farms management, feed and dairy industry, safe poultry raising, goat farming and honey industry. Beekeeping and extraction of honey and bee products.

Project Description:

This initiative is implemented over a period of five years: January 2017 - December 2021, with a budget of EGP 14 million, in partnership with al-Nid'a and UNDP. The aim of this initiative is to raise the standard of living of the population in Upper Egypt by providing suitable employment opportunities, focusing on food security and providing food alternatives. It also aims to empowering women by increasing their contribution to work and utilize the agricultural and rural development, which in turn encouraging the adoption of sustainable agricultural environment friendly technologies. Through the initiative, 2500 beneficiaries are trained in the areas of banana waste recycling, hydroponic farming, through farmers' field schools, integrated fish farm management, feed industry, dairy production, safe poultry education, goat farming, and food industry.
