Special Needs Educators

in Kalyobiya Governorate

Time frame: January 2005 – March 2007

Project Context:

Given the high prevalence of persons with special needs (mentally challenged) in Egypt and the lack of trained professionals to provide adequate services for them, a need emerged to train special needs educators to rehabilitate mentally challenged persons and facilitate their integration into the society

Objectives:

The project aims at training 125 university graduates to work as special needs educators in both Cairo and Kalyobiya Governorates. A training and employment unit will be created to employ the special needs educators. The training lasts 14 months and comprises a theoretical part including a background on special needs persons, psychology and educational techniques in addition to a practical training given by a specialized institute.
