Development Practitioners
in Cairo Governorate

Time frame: February 2005- October 2006

Project Context:

As NGOs are playing a more prominent role in economic and sustainable development, there is a growing need for specialized institutes to train professionals with adequate knowledge and experience to work in the field of development

Objectives:

The project aims at training 15 new graduates on different skills needed in the field of development including planning, fundraising, project implementation, monitoring and evaluation and employing them in different organizations. The training will be undertaken in four governorates namely: Cairo, Fayoum, Aswan and Beni Suef to allow the trainees to be exposed to different environments that are encountered in the development field.

Partners:

Institute of Cultural Affairs- Middle East and North Africa (ICA-MENA), (refer to Micro-Credit for youth in Beni Suef Governorate). The Institute delivers the training to the beneficiaries and is responsible for the overall coordination of the project.

Eastern Beni Seliman Community Development Association, National NGO Center for Population and Development (NCPD), Future Foundation, development organizations who provide job opportunities for the beneficiaries.

Project Status:

17 youth from Beni Suef and Fayoum have completed their theoretical training which included an introduction on development and focused on developing the skills of the beneficiaries on the use of computers and internet, researching and reports writing. The second phase where beneficiaries undergo their practical training in the field has begun.
