NGOs
in Alexandria Governorate

Project Context: As NGOs are playing a more prominent role in economic and sustainable development,
there is a growing need for specialized institutes to train professionals with
adequate knowledge and experience to work in the field of development. Objectives: The project will provide a 12-months theoretical and on-the-job training for 85 persons to work at different managerial levels within NGOs. Several NGOs have nominated volunteers within their organization to undergo this course. Partners: Young Men Christian Association in Alexandria (YMCA), established in 1928, is a part of a national and worldwide movement committed for helping young people regardless of gender, race, faith or color. It is considered one of the oldest NGOs that works with youth in the different fields of culture, social development, sports activities, the protection of the environment, in addition to caring for the family, children and motherhood. YMCA is responsible for the overall coordination of the project. The Arabic Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (Center for Adults and Continuing Education (CACE), is responsible for supervising and monitoring the training program and provide the specialized professors to give the training.
Social Services Faculty, Sadat Academy for Management Sciences, Higher Institute for Social Services in Alexandria,
Institute of Social Sciences, Faculty of Law University of Alexandria, teaching institutes that provide
the necessary tutors to give the theoretical and practical training.
Project Status: A training curriculum has been developed which includes: NGOs Management, Strategic Planning, Internal Monitoring, Fundraising and Scientific Research. Currently, 75 youth are undertaking their theoretical and practical training on different subjects relating to NGO management.
