Printing Technicians in Kalyobiya Governorate
Time frame:
January 2005- April 2007 Project Context:
Due to the
increase in both the competitiveness of the Egyptian market and the demand
from consumers for high quality goods, the need for excellence in printing
on paper and textiles, an important component of industry, has risen.
Objectives: The project aims at training and employing 300 youth in the field of printing. 100 youth will be trained on different skills in paper printing, namely: maintenance and printing technicians, binding and quality controllers and pattern design specialists. 200 youth will be trained on textiles printing including designers, photographers, printing technicians and quality controllers. The training program includes a behavioral training to assist beneficiaries in adapting to the working environment in addition to a theoretical training (1 month) in specialized institutes and on-the-job training (3 months) in various companies and factories working in the field of printing. Partners: Women Association for Human Development (Hayaty), aims at developing the skills of the female-headed households in rural and urban societies in the Kalyobiya governorate by providing them with the necessary medical services and vocational training. The Association is responsible for the overall implementation and coordination of the project. Faculty of Engineering Shubra, has experience in providing training on printing on both paper and textiles. The institute provides the practical training on printing machinery. Center for National Studies, the only specialized center in information technology available in the Kalyobiya governorate. It conducts research and delivers training in various fields. The Center is responsible for delivering the Professional Ethics and Inter-communication skills training. Factories, provide the practical (on-the-job) training and employment opportunities for the beneficiaries Project Status:
To date, 102 diploma graduates have been trained on textile and paper printing and have been employed in various factories. Currently, 18 youth are being trained on paper printing following the development of a training curriculum by the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra and the set up of the premises with the appropriate machinery.
